Hypnotica Records is a label based in the dark alleys of the underground Stockholm society in Sweden.
As you might have already figured out we share a passion for the darker and weirder type of psychedelic trance that is inspired from the deep and magical forests of Sweden. After organizing parties since 2001 we wanted to expand our involvement and form a new type of record label to release the music we love the most. We do not go after big names or big profiles. Instead we search the underground lairs for new and talented artist so that we can bring them to the surface and blast you freaks out there to a higher and deeper level of trance experience.
We believe that many artist never get the chance to show what they are capable of doing and we want to be their helping hand. We are able to do this with all the established contact we have made during the years of organizing parties and releasing V/As. The name of the label was chosen because of the plant Psychotria Viridis, wich has entheogenic properties, used to prepare the wine of the souls (Ayahuasca), and it is only found in Amazon region, homeland of Psychotic Viridis Records. Greetings and welcome to the Psycircle. We are a collective of abnormal minds living under the radar of society working towards enlightenment and evolution. We make music and gather outdoors to share it with others and celebrate life. On each artists page, there are free tracks to give a sample of our sound and pics in the gallery to browse while listening. Our style of music is psychedelic trance, which is to say we produce a psychedelic style of electronic trance music ranging from chill to totally mental. Our gatherings are held outdoors so that everybody can experience all frequencies created. We do this by utilizing the fact that sound is the cleanest with no walls or ceilings to bounce off. We gather and release music with the intention of bringing love and evolution to all, and we enjoy what we do.
Psycircle was formed in 2001 by Chris Martin and Tom Gooch as an event crew, and it remains as such. In addition, we now release and master music, compose for special projects including movies, visual and performance art, music for fire dancers, band recordings, sound engineering, book writing, music creation apprentice workshops; pretty much anything to do with sound. When Psycircle started, the intention was to keep trance psychedelic and innovative, while keeping the dance floor moving. We define psytrance as an electronic dance track with kick drums on the quarter notes and a synth bassline that work together to build a solid yet pulsating virtual wall of low resonant frequencies spanning 30hz-200hz between approximately 120-170 bpm. Most tracks released on this label are around 150 bpm. On top of the bass and kick there are an infinite amount of sounds; the imagination is the limit. Sounds in psychedelic trance tracks are usually layered in such a complex and twisted yet sequenced manner that it creates a story within the track; a story without words, only feelings. These sounds have been known to cause hallucinations and change perception of space-time.
We as Psycircle represent the home-grown California sound of psy. We have gained many talented artists, djs, and sound engineers along our collective path. We now work internationally.
This music is in serious need of exposure. Due to the lack of representation in most popular musical outlets, the psytrance scene has grown and developed by people of a clandestine nature; in other words, the scene doesn't find the people, the people have to discover it. The more minds that are charged with the psy energy, the more brilliant people will step out of oblivion and into a free and full-fledged creative mode.
Plus, dancing is healthy!
